We are still waiting for the tuna to arrive. We are keeping a sharp eye out on the blue water for the “footballs!”
The bite was somewhat slow this past Saturday, but the BB II still brought in a 40# Ling. It was a beaut! However, the really big fish story is about the “2nd catch.” Capt.Tim was helping to load the wheel barrel w/the few King and Ling. The crew also secured a huge bag of fresh shrimp. Capt.Tim pitched it to the wheel barrel and it tipped everything over into the water next to the boat! King, Ling, and Shrimp…..bubbling down, down, with Capt.Tim’s mouth agap! First Mate, Trent knew he did not have a minute to waste and dove in for the bounty! Feeling w/his feet and then his hands he was able to retrieve ALL of the fish and shrimp! We had a happy ending and the 2nd catch was the best fish story of the day!

Black tip shark and Spinner shark are the name of the game. They have been targeted behind the dragging shrimp boats. If there is not a hook-up within 5 minutes, the Captains move on to the next dragger.
Kingfish are finally showing up in great numbers! A fun fast fish to catch and great tablefare!
We stay ready for the Ling and dolphin fish (dorado/mahi-mahi). We are always looking for a weed line or something floating in the water because this is where these two fish like to hang out.
Come on and book that trip! You will have a trip of a lifetime!

School will be starting soon, so you must book that fishing trip w/Freda soon. FISH ON!

Hurricane Alex came ashore on the northern Mexico coast. The bands of the hurricane brought our area much needed rain, approx. 4 1/2″. The wind has kept us from fishing, because of the whipped-up seas. However, the winds have come down considerably, and we are planning on fishing on Tuesday, July 6. We still have many dates available, and those that want to fish for red snapper, need to fish before or on July 23rd. Come on and catch that fish of a lifetime!!

The gulf waters are warm and the fishin’ is hot! All of our boats fished this past weekend (Thur/Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon) and on every trip the anglers brought in their limit of big red snapper. Also, the ling are plentiful. Even Amberjack were caught on a 10 hour tour. One of the boats hung a 38 lb. kingfish! There were a lot of smiles and sore arm muscles! Make your reservation TODAY!

Russ, Caleb, and Tyler Wallace from Paint Rock, Texas and their friend Tony Lopez from San Angelo, Texas had a fantastic (or maybe that it “fintastic”) day on the Gulf of Mexico. They brought in their limit of red snapper (all big in size), a 32 # amberjack, 2 ling, and a mess of chicken dolphin! They fished on the Bill Busters II w/Capt. John, and First Mate, Owen.
We are all looking forward to a banner year (actually 2 months for the snapper season) for the red snapper. Being that we have a short window of time to fish the red snapper, we have noticed that the snapper that we do bring in are very significant in size as opposed to past years when the season was longer (over fished) the snapper were not as plentiful and smaller in size.
Those customers that want to fish for the red snapper need to get a boat reserved today!

Wow…what a great fishing trip on Friday, May 21, 2010. Each boat had kingfish, baracuda, and small shark. The Bill Busters I stopped at the Sea Buoy for their last stop and caught a 40# ling. Calm seas, favorite beverage, and good company….what else could you ask for on a day on the Gulf!

Please be advised that Texas has not and will not experience any of the oil spill from Deepwater Horizon offshore oil rig. Being that it is hunderds of miles from Texas but the most important factor is the wind and current. There are always the prevailing southeast wind and a northlery flowing current, it will continue to go into Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. Predominantly Louisiana at this time (5-5-10). As all of the oil experts, and scientist have predicted. Please call Freda (361-749-5223) if you have any questions. She keeps updated on the latest events!

Captain John ran a night trip this past weekend. The shrimp boats were dragging their nets during the evening hours. And as I explained in my previous blog, the black-tip shark are churning right behind the shrimpers. Capt. John had 6 anglers onboard, and they each caught a black-tip shark! So keep in mind that we have a really good special for the 4.5 hr. black-tip shark trip. On the BB II, for up to 6 people, it is $850, and on the BB I, for up to 6 people ,it is $800. There are still open dates, so call Freda and she will get you reserved on one of the boats!

Reese and I have returned from Costa Rica and we are getting our two boats ready for our fishing season. The 31′ (Bill Busters I) has already run several trips. The Captains need to go further offshore this time of the year because the waters are still cool. As the water begins to warm, the fish will start to move in. In fact, in just about another week we will be starting our black-tip shark trips. The female sharks will be coming in close to “have their pups.” Generally, we will be “hooked-up” within 10 minutes behind the shrimp boats, and then the “fight is on!” The black-tip sharks put up a tremendous battle and it is good table-fare to boot. The season is just starting so we still have many open dates. Be sure to call now to reserve your boat with Captain John on the 35′ Bertram (Bill Busters II) or Captain Tim on the 31′ Bertram. Also, if you are wanting a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday date, keep in mind these are the “gold” dates and are grabbed up quickly. Freda is ready to talk to YOU…361 749 5223
