21. April 2012 by Freda Greene.
We are stateside on our beautiful island paradise of Port Aransas…gosh it feels good to be back home and preparing for our 2012 Season! And it is also good to announce that our Red Snapper Season has been announced by our Fed.Gov just yesterday. We will be allowed to fish from June 1-July 10. With a short window of time to fish for these beauties, everyone should keep this in mind….the Snapper should be plentiful and BIG. For the past 3 seasons, the Captains have had the piece of mind that the Snapper will be at their “secret spots,” which in turn, makes our customers very happy! So, don’t delay and give Freda a call @ 361-749-5223 or email: reesegreene@yahoo.com.
Another big announcement…..WE ARE ON FACEBOOK ! Just log on to FB and plug in Bill Busters Sportfishing. You will transported to our page. Please hit the button “like.” The good thing about having FB is that Freda can now post our customers catches. Over the years, many customers have been somewhat disappointed about not seeing their pictures on our website (which in controlled by a webmaster)….so now our Bill Busters clients (and more) can zoom over to FB and see their bright smiling faces with their spectacular “catch of the day.”
Bill Busters’ motto is “We catch memories”….so let us help you to catch a memory! Call Freda today and let’s get you on the books….until then….Pura Vida (pure life)…..Freda and Reese

Hola…speaking to you from south of 10′ 40′ N and 85′ 30′ W ! Playa Flamingo, Costa Rica. During our off season, we jet down to the beautiful, tropical country of Costa Rica….where you can hear the palm trees swaying, shoreline waves crashing, and Reese saying, “otra cerveza por favor!”
But, of course, our hearts and minds are thinking about our upcoming 2012 Fishing Season. All of our current customers will be receiving their Spring Letter mid-March. Be sure to read about our 2012 Specials!!
We have had some clients inquire about when the Snapper Season will open. As on this day, January 21, 2012, we have not heard from our fine Federal Gov. We expect to get the notice any time, informing us of the time allotted for the Snapper Season. My captains and I have been speaking about our Snapper Season, and are hoping that our fine Fed Gov does not shorten our time to hook up the beautiful Red Snapper (the av. weight last season was 11-15 lbs.) And some lucky anglers even hauled in some giants of 25-30 lbs.!!
Capt.Tim reminded me that the ancient Mayan Calendar ended Dec.2012 (or the predicted “end of the world…..doomsday….no mas”) If we “go along” with the calendar, there is only one outcome that can be surmised…..this may be the last summer to fish for the Snapper….so, come on now….let’s start thinking about a fishing trip….whether it is Snapper, Shark, Kings, Dorados, Wahoo, Tuna…get that trip on the books!!!
BTW, those of you faithful readers of this blog, please check back here soon for updates/alerts/info about our forthcoming 2012 Season….until then….PURA VIDA MI AMIGOS !!

12. September 2011 by Freda Greene.
For the past 4 mornings, I open my front door, and I am greeted with cool breezes! Not the stifling, take-your-breath-away, humid air. Keep in mind we are usually out the door by 5:30 a.m. so I feel like this is very significant. Our summer has been brutal. Relentless heat and no rain since April (received 1/2″). We are grateful for the coolness, but we still need rain and lots of it. I have been watering my garden (trees, bushes , flowers) everyday, and they still look fairly pitiful. I had my first hibiscus bloom yesterday…I rushed to take a picture of it. I have a friend that posted on FB the other day….you know what she was complaining about? It was raining and she could not get out of the house to go golfing!! I just about hit the “delete friend” button. I know, I know…there are people that are flooded and they have their own issues. But here in Texas, the fires are our issues. By the last count, over 1500 homes have been destroyed in Bastrop county. People are displaced and FB has posted pictures of pitiful little animals that are homeless, firestricken with very sad-looking gazes. Some kind souls are posting on FB to help w/large and small animals. They have barns and acres of land to move the animals. Social net-working can be a very positive venue. However, my husband, Reese is quite skeptical of FB and wonders who is lurking just around the corner.
Now, I know the first paragraph did not have one whit to do with fishing. To tell you the truth…there has not been much to talk about…the fishing has been a challenge ever since TS Lee went into Louisiana…. it really messed up our waters…made them muddy so the fish could not see our bait…even the bay guides have been complaining. We feel like there is a turn-around this next week. I look out right now, and see that the water is quite beautiful. A very deep blue, that usually indicates that Autumn is right around the corner! Thank-goodness. But stay tuned, I feel like we will be seeing the Black-fin Tuna beat themselves up jumping into Capt.Tim and Capt. Mark’s boats.
I would like to add a personal note as to the significance of this day. September 11, 2011. Ten years after a faceless enemy attacked our shores. Brutally taking-down innocent American citizens, approximately 3000 our our brothers, sisters, husband, wives, mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts, and friends. It shook us to our core. We were all united. Today, there were beautiful ceremonies, tributes, poems, songs, speeches. I do believe there was a priest at the Shanksville ceremony the day before (giving an opening and parting prayer). And President Bush was able to recount about one of the men on Flight 93 that ask the operator to recite the “Lord’s Prayer” with him. However, something was missing in New York…no prayer, no priest, no clergymen. I must admit, I did not watch it all day, so maybe someone, somewhere, was able to offer up a prayer. Yep, something is missing alright, every-time that we turn around there is always someone there to remind us about being politically correct and not to offend anyone. Well, as I see it the enemy is no longer faceless and he is determined to do much harm to America. So we must call to a higher power, stay viligiant, and never forget what happened 10 years ago today.

One of the 10 hour trips brought in a couple of LARGE Black-fin Tuna last week! We will be alerting our customers when the Black-fin tunas are a more frequent catch. Until then, we are consistently catching Black-tip Shark, Kingfish, Ling, Dogfish Snapper, and Dorado (chicken, turkey and even a bull or cow here and there!) Wow, sounds like we are all in the barn, but all these species are offshore, and heading for the hills when they hear Capt.Tim and Capt.Mark coming their way!!!
Now that school has started, the island has become a little less hectic (fewer carts and cars), and time to get offshore to fewer boats and more opportunity of some spectacular fishing. Hopefully, we will get a reprieve from the heat and get into some hot…hot…hot….. fishing!
Please give Freda a call, and she will help you reserve one of the Bill Buster boats ! 361 749 5223

Red Snapper is closed for the season (however, the Feds may reopen snapper in the Fall as they did last year). Now our focus is Black-tip shark, kingfish, ling, mahi-mahi, small shark, and dog snapper (no limit on the dog snapper). The shrimper season re-opened on July 15th so we have already pulled black-tip and spinner shark off the dragging nets! Those of you that want a challenging fight, our captains can put you on these black-tip/spinner shark and you will come walking away with sore muscles!!
Just a bit more information on the dog snapper. They are a cousin to the red snapper (look just like the red snapper but darker and they have gnarly front teeth). The captains have learned a new technique to assure the dog snapper make it into the fish box! Hmmmm, they are yummy eating too!
We have dates still availabe in July and of course, August and September. Be sure to call Freda 361-749-5223 and get reserved with one of our boats for your day on the Gulf! The fish are waiting!

5. July 2011 by Freda Greene.
We had a great time aboard the BB II last night for the magnificant firework display. The boat was filled w/friends and family. We had a perfect viewing “spot” in the Aransas Channel…the fireworks were directly over our heads! 4th of July is a great way to say “thank-you” to all of those men and women in the armed forces (past and present) for defending and protecting our freedoms!
We are fishing fast for the Snapper….there has been no one disappointed w/their catches. The Snapper that are brought in by our clients are bigger than anyone bringing in Snapper. Our captains know all the secret grounds for the bigger Snapper! Kudos to Tim and Mark!!
Beside Snapper, the boats are bringing in Ling, small shark, and Kingfish. Once the shrimp boats start dragging their nets, we should be having more of an increase of the Kingfish. The shrimpers start on July 15th and the Snapper season closes on July 19th. However, we are hoping the Feds reopen the season (as they did last Fall). We will keep you updated on that front.
There are still dates on the calendar. We are also doing turn-arounds on the 6 hr. tour. This means that if the boats have a 6 hr. trip in the morning (6-12), we can also offer a 6 hr. trip in the afternoon (1-7pm) on either boat. The afternoon fishing has been just as good as the morning tour.
Stay tuned. We will be having the transition of the closing Snapper season, into the warm Summer months of July and August. The winds are less, the seas are calmer.

Sorry that I have been remiss in writing a current post (esp.to Mr.Redman !) Our readers should know that we started the Red Snapper season with quite a bang!! They are big and they are plentiful! The Snapper are so thick, sometimes it is hard to get a bait in the water. Many customers are taking advantage of our Red Snapper special. A six hour tour that can be run in the morning between 6-12 a.m and a 6 hr. between 1-7 p.m. The Feds have really shortened our Snapper season, so those of you that want primarily Snapper need to get on the books before July 18th!
Also, we are seeing quite a few Ling. Capt.Mark’s crew brought in a 41# Ling on Sunday. The Captains are telling us how there are quite a few Ling that have been seen on top of the water. This is an indication that they have been feeding and they are full…..many times they will not take a bait when it is cast right in front of them! So, it takes some skill and determination to get the Ling to “take the bait.”
The Kingfish that are brought in are BIG..this is typical at the beginning of the fishing season. They have had quite awhile to feed, so they are fat. They are also frisky in the very warm waters. It is common to see them shoot straight out of the water…jumping about 15 ft in the air.
Also being spotted are Sailfish. When the waters become very warm, some of the Sailfish will move closer into shore (they are typically in deep waters). Many times a keen eye can see the Sailfish’s sail on top of the water! We are always ready with a bait for this trophy fish. Of course, we do not gaff or keep the fish…we try to get him in the boat quickly…get the angler set so he can pull up the sail and get pictures….it is all done very fast as to not injure the fish. He is then put back in the water and we “swim” them to get the saltwater rushing back through their gills.
One other note. Captain Tim had a celebrity on board for Saturday’s charter! Tyler McLaughlin from Austin. He is a singer and guitar player. He has his second CD out and he treated the Capt/Crew to his newest released CD! Kudos to Tyler!
Stayed tuned for the updates from the deep!

Our most urgent news is that the Feds have released the window of time for the Red Snapper. It is June 1 thru July 18th. Small window, but we plan to run two-6hr. trips per day strictly for the Red Snapper. The 31′ (Bill Busters I) basic rate will be $1000 and the 35′ (Bill Busters II) the basic rate will be $1200. Please call Freda and get your reservation on the calender!
We fought winds in the month of April, so there were very few days that the boats got out. It is not unusual to have these spring winds. It is the first week of May and already the winds have calmed a bit. We have a busy weekend coming up and we plan to go chase the black-tip shark. Be looking to our blog to find out what we caught!

We are very busy getting ready to head for TEXAS. We have had a wonderful time in Costa Rica, but itching to get our 2011 fishing season started ! All of our customers will be seeing a “new-do” on the Bill Busters I, and Capt. Tim has overseen work done on the Bill Busters II (actually, he has done the work!) I want all of you that are loyal readers of this blog to be watching for some interesting news regarding Costa Rica. Freda was able to visit a horse ranch not far from where she and Reese lives in Flamingo, Costa Rica. The owner of this horse ranch has decided to sell the ranch. So in the next week or month, be sure to check back on this blog to read about the details of this magnificant piece of land. Until then, we are readying for our return to Port A to get our 2011 fishing season officially started ! Gone Fishin’

We will be returning to the Gulf coast soon! Reese and I are soooo ready to be back home and get our 2011 fishing season started. Capt.Tim has already run a few trips out of Woody’s Sport Center. His last customer caught some kingfish, amberjack, and a spinner shark. A lot of action for an early season jaunt!
We are still waiting to hear when the red snapper season will open. We think it will be sometime around June 1. This year the Feds have promised either to lengthen the snapper season, or increase the limit catch per day! When was it that we heard good news from the Feds?? They are doing this because the snapper season was shut down early due to the BP oil spill.
Keep in touch with Freda (361-749-5223) and learn about our 2011 fishing specials. We really can not wait to hear….”FISH ON!!”
